Frequently Asked Questions

We have answered our most frequently asked roofing questions. If you have any more questions regarding our processes or for advice with your roof, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Payment

We aim to keep our payment terms as simple and easy to understand as possible.

Upon acceptance of your quotation we will request a 5% booking deposit to confirm your work start date.

If the cost of works is over £5,000 we will request an additional instalment the week before work start. This instalment will coincide with the arrival of the scaffolding ready for work start.

When the total cost is over £20,000, instalments will be required throughout the project. We will make you aware of the payment schedule on acceptance of your quote.

Your final invoice will be received on completion of works.

Payment is due on the day of receipt for our deposit and instalment invoices.

The final invoice is due on satisfactory completion of the works. 

We accept many forms of payment.

Invoices can be paid via bank transfer to JR roofing Lancs Limited on the details provided in your invoice.

Payment can also be made via cash, debit card and credit card. Card payments can be taken with a card reader at the time of repair, over the phone or a payment link can be sent electronically with your invoice.

We also offer finance through Kanda. Please let us know if you wish for us to provide you with details of your finance options.

Survey

We have survey appointments available Monday-Friday.

Please note that our appointments tend to get booked up fast during particularly bad weather.

We are licensed and insured to provide drone roof inspections in Blackpool and the North West.

We provide free survey and quotations, except for in the following circumstances:

  • Insurance quotations
  • Properties on the market including for sale, sold subject to contract, under offer, etc.

Chargeable surveys are charged at £250+VAT. If you choose to go ahead with the work detailed in the chargeable survey and quotation, the £250+VAT cost of survey will be deducted from your final invoice.

It may occasionally be possible for us to provide a quotation for small repairs such as tile or slate repairs without attending for a survey. 

Please submit an enquiry through the contact form or by email and attach photos of your roofing issue and a photo from the road showing the access around your property. We will then confirm the quote for repair work or arrange a convenient date to survey your roof problem.

On roof survey we visually inspect the roof. We check the access around your property and make notes to enable us to provide an accurate quotation.

We will then discuss our findings with you and go through any options.

We also take photos, videos and/or drone footage so you can see any issues firsthand.

For all roof enquiries we ask that you complete the contact form. A member of our team will then be in touch to arrange a convenient date and time to survey.

We ask that you take the time to be at the survey appointment. 

If you have a current leak, we may need access to the property to enable us to detect the leak. After thorough leak detection we will explain how to rectify the issue.

There can be many things to discuss when replacing your roof whether it be your main house, flat roof or conservatory. We will talk you through the many options and give you enough information to make an informed choice. We can then provide an accurate quotation based on your preferences.

Quotation

At JR roofing Lancs Limited, we provide full detailed quotations that describe exactly what is required.

We aim to send out quotations within five working days of your survey. 

All our quotations are sent out by email. If you haven’t received your quote within five days, please check your junk mail to ensure it hasn’t gone in the incorrect folder by mistake. If your quotation hasn’t been received, please get in contact with us to confirm it has been sent.

Our quotations will remain open for 30 days. 

After this time the quotation may require amendment due to potential increases in material costs. We may be able to fix prices for longer periods upon request.

Of course, please email the office with any changes you would like to make and we will arrange for an updated quotation to be sent out at the earliest convenience.

That’s great news! Please respond to your quotation email with confirmation that you wish to proceed. 

Upon receipt of your written confirmation, we will respond to arrange a suitable work start date and fill you in on any need-to-know information.

During Works

Our experience roofers aim to make the whole process as stress-free as possible.

Planning permission is not normally required for re-roofing your home or to add skylights.

More information can be found on the planning portal.

If you are replacing more than 50% of your roof, you are required to get the completed work signed off by building regulations.

As we are NFRC Competent Person Scheme (CPS) registered contractors we are able to self-certify our work. 

We will notify building regulations on your behalf. We will make them aware when the work will take place and once we have completed. This means you don’t have to contact the council or pay fees to apply for building regulations.

On completion of your re roof, you will receive a Building Regulations Compliance Certificate, our company guarantee, and a 10 year Insurance Backed Guarantee.

We will arrange for the scaffolding to arrive the week before we start work. If welfare facilities are required we will organise the delivery, cleaning and collection.

We ask if you have anything of value in the loft space that this is moved or sheeted prior to us starting work. 

Upon receipt of your written confirmation, we will respond to arrange a suitable work start date and fill you in on any need-to-know information.

We don’t require you to be in whilst we are working. We will keep you informed of progress at the end of each working day.

We do require access to power throughout the day. If you do not have external sockets the team will be able to discuss other options with you. 

After Care

JR roofing Lancs Limited offer the full roofing package including after care.

On completion of works we will remove all waste and ensure your property is left clean and tidy. We will arrange for the scaffolding and any welfare services to be removed. 

We will show you our completed work and ensure you are happy. 

If you have an issue, please let us know as soon as possible. We will arrange an appointment to survey at the earliest convenience. 

Once payment has been received, we will provide you with our company guarantee and notify NFRC CPS that we have completed.

You should expect to receive your Building Regulations Compliance Certificate and Insurance Backed Guarantee within 8 weeks of completion.

Any manufacturer guarantees will be requested on completion of work.
