Why the customer contacted us...
Prior to this re-roof, Suzy already had multiple repairs done on her roof. Anytime there was a storm, there had to be a repair done, to the point where she decided that a replacement would be best long-term.
What was wrong with the roof?
This heritage roof had many issues, especially with leaks around the skylights, valleys, shared valley and chimney stacks. It was evident that the roof was going through awful, nail-fatigue, which was most likely the reason behind why repairs were required after every storm; the slates couldn’t hold on anymore. To add to the sheer amount of leaks, the loft had no insulation whatsoever.
How we fixed the issue.
Our team stripped the entire roof before insulation was installed to keep the home warmer. The fire break was also installed during the beginning stages to meet building regulations. Replacing the shared valley was very important as it was leaking water into the home, so we re-boarded, installed new trims, and used Restec Flexitec to make it water-tight.
During this re-roof, we also did a chimney restoration with: full grinding out and pointing of chimney stack, re-flaunching of the chimney, re-bedding the chimney pots, installation of lead soakers and flashings, installation of lead saddles, welded front apron, and welded back gutter, as well as an application of patination oil to finish it off.
We also installed brand new Velux windows and Velux sun tunnel into the roof.
The finished result.
We are really proud of this roof, but what makes us happier is the fact that another one of our customers doesn’t have to deal with leaks, cold or the cost of repairs anymore.
The customer received a Building Regulations Compliance Certificate and a 10 Year Insurance Backed Guarantee which are both transferable when selling the home.
“Thanks a lot for transforming our roof, so glad we went with Josh. Such a bunch of hard-working lads even in the rain and snow and they were all respectful to our house and friendly. I’d recommend this company to anyone wanting their roof fixing or replaced. Almost everyone on our street has been out for a look and commented on what a great job it is on a 100 year old house.”
