Why the customer contacted us...
When Peter contacted us, he mentioned that he wanted repairs for the house he just moved into. We also received more information from him, such as the house being built in the 1950s, the gutter joints leaking, the flashing of the chimney being damaged and causing a leak in a room, as well as hoping to get the two chimneys reduced.
What was wrong with the roof?
During the drone survey, we immediately noticed that the tiles were falling out and cracking, most likely due to nail fatigue, along with loose hip tiles. The lead flashing was damaged by the bay roof, causing dampness. Something we also noticed was the sheer amount of new tiles, meaning that the roof has already gone through many repairs.
When we looked at the chimneys, they were in rough shape, with damaged lead flashing, which didn’t matter too much since we would be dropping them below the roofline.
The flat, bitumen-felt bay roof was in need of replacement, with damaged lead flashing and water retention.
How we fixed the issue.
The first step was removing all the old tiles and dropping the chimneys. Our team installed a fire break and insulation to the roof space, before re-roofing the flat bay window using a fibreglass grp roofing system. We installed new red clay tiles, new valleys, followed by a dry ridge system. The customer also opted for new fascia, soffits, and guttering.
The finished result.
The new roof came out beautifully, completely changing the home. We were extremely glad that Peter liked his new roof and asked us to re-roof their kitchen extension to match the following year.
